Santa Ponsa sits on Mallorca's southwest coast, about twenty minutes from Palma and twenty-five to thirty from the airport. It has grown from a quiet bay into one of the island's most established international communities, and it remains one of the easiest places on Mallorca to arrive at, settle into, and feel at home.
We don't have a property in Santa Ponsa on our books right now. Tell us what you're looking for and we'll be in touch when the right one comes along.
The heart of it is the beach: a wide sweep of pale sand with clear, shallow water and a promenade of restaurants and cafés behind it. It's a proper working beach town rather than a preserved village, and that's part of the appeal. There's a supermarket, a pharmacy, a bank and a decent restaurant within a few minutes of most homes here, which is not something every beautiful corner of Mallorca can claim.
Santa Ponsa is best known among residents for its sport. The golf club is at the centre of daily life for a large part of the community, and the tennis club has become internationally significant: each June it hosts the Mallorca Championships, an ATP grass-court tournament and the only one of its kind in southern Europe, drawing top-ranked players in the week before Wimbledon. Padel courts have followed, as they have across Spain.
Like most of coastal Mallorca, Santa Ponsa moves with the seasons. From April to October it's busy, sociable and full of life. Through the winter months many of the bars and restaurants close and the town becomes very quiet. That's true of almost the whole island outside Palma, and it's worth understanding before you buy rather than after.
For most of our buyers it suits them well: a home used through the warmer months, in a town that's at its best exactly when they're there. And for anyone here year-round, Palma is twenty minutes down the motorway, so winter evenings out are a short drive rather than an expedition.
Buyers who want the beach, the sport and the convenience of an established resort town, with Palma and the airport near enough to be easy, and who would rather have amenities on the doorstep than absolute seclusion.
