Peguera
Peguera sits at the western end of the southwest coast, about twenty five to thirty minutes from Palma. Three sandy beaches, a long pedestrian boulevard behind them, and a settled, family minded atmosphere that has made it one of the most established places on the island to own a holiday home.

About Peguera
Three beaches and a boulevard
Peguera has three beaches, Platja Palmira, Platja de Tora and Platja de la Romana, all linked by a seafront promenade. The bay is sheltered so the water stays calm, and the beaches are well kept and shallow, which is a large part of why families keep coming back.
Behind them runs the Boulevard, the main street, lined with shops, cafés and restaurants for about a mile and a half. In the evenings during summer it closes to traffic and fills up with people walking, eating and sitting outside. There is a market every Tuesday.
A German heart
Peguera has been popular with German visitors since the sixties and it still is, to the point that it is often called Little Germany. You hear it in the restaurants and see it in the shops, and a lot of the people who own homes here are German or Swiss.
It is worth knowing either way. If you are German speaking, you will find this one of the easiest places on the island to settle into. If you are not, it is still a straightforward, welcoming place, but its character is genuinely German led rather than British or Spanish, and that shapes the feel of it.
What it is not is a party resort. It is quiet in the evenings compared with the resorts further east, and it draws families in summer and older couples out of season.
Where it sits
Peguera is at the quieter end of this coast, close to the Tramuntana foothills, so cycling and hiking start almost from the door. Camp de Mar, Cala Fornells and Andratx are all nearby, and the motorway runs straight back to Palma.
The kind of homes here
Peguera has a broader mix of property than most of this coast. Apartments and penthouses make up the bulk of what comes to market, but there is a healthy supply of townhouses and detached homes, and villas come up regularly too. If you want a house with a garden rather than an apartment, this is one of the more realistic places on the southwest coast to find one.
Who it suits
Buyers who want a calm, well established resort town with good beaches and everything within walking distance, and who are happy to be a little further from Palma in return for a quieter setting.
Like the rest of this coast, it is busiest from spring to autumn and much quieter through the winter.
